The Vision

imageWhat is a Vision?

A vision is a dream or a thought that never leaves your sight. It’s there when you wake in the morning until you rest your head at night.

It’s not quite a destination but it is the masterpiece that when you look back you can see the puzzle prices fitting together.

Sometimes it’s ok not to have a solid clear vision, but as our journey continues we just need to focus on how we want to feel at the end of every day.

You may find yourself pivoting at times but other times you may feel that you are on the right path.

What do you do to stay focused?

Surround yourself with people who lift you up and bring out the best in you. It may be a group of family or friends who are like minded.

I have a mastermind group that I consult with every fortnight.
Together we hold each other accountable for the top 3 goals we wish to achieve within that fortnight.
We help each other with challenges and celebrate our wins. It’s so helpful to have people help you think outside the box or bounce ideas off each other.

Finding golden nuggets in resources are handy to keep your focus. I listen to podcasts such as the School Of Greatness by Lewis Howes. I also have my own podcast called One Voice can change the world with Tina Bangel. I interview singers, performers whom I feel are inspiring and are at a level that performers can aspire towards. I hire coaches, I read books and watch Ted talks or motivational YouTube clips to help me keep on track.

My favourite all time Ted talk is starting with your Why by Simon Sinik. It’s one of the top most watched Ted talk. When you watch it you will understand why.
Sinik mentions why we need to start with our why.

He explains why any person or organization can explain what they do; some can explain how they are different or better; but very few can clearly articulate why.

WHY is not about money or profit – those are results.WHY is the thing that inspires us and inspires those around us.

When you know your why a clear vision can be formed.

When you know your why the navigation toward your distination becomes easier and much smoother.

From Martin Luther King, Jr. to Steve Jobs to the Wright Brothers,
Start with Why shows that the leaders who inspire all think, act, and communicate in the exact same way – and it’s the complete opposite of what everyone else does.

It’s a must read for anyone who wants to know how to stay focused.

When is the best time to create a life vision?
My earliest memory of wanting to be a singer was as young as 7 years old, As I held my favourite records in my hand I would imagine myself on stage. Subconsciously I feel I worked towards that dream.
We should never underestimate the power of a vision, even a young child’s vision.

My mother has her slum book from when she was much younger and her sisters filled out the section that asked – what is your ambition: one sister wrote at the age of 6 years old – to heal the sick. She is a doctor with her own medical surgery. Often she travels the world to conduct medical missions.

For myself I had plenty of goals. Goals to learn how to sing, goals to be a session singer, goals to be a working vocalist in a corporate band or wedding singer.

After achieving many of these goals I realised that I lacked motivation. It felt like I was travelling to gigs, singing to the audience and then hoping back in the van, home, sleep and then doing it all over again.

I lacked vision and a purpose. I didn’t know my WHY.

Over the years I have discovered that music and singing is much more powerful. Teaching singing and a program called Kindermusik helped me see the power it has in the life of a child. It helped them emotionally, physically, mentally and socially.

After years of teaching and performing I now know that my Why is to help children Be Heard. Be Heard so they can express and deal with life and everyday situations. Be Heard through singing.

Helping them believe that their voice is important.

Helping them through the joys of music and singing.

I truly believe that if you give a child the confidence to use their voice and express their soul then they have the ability to change the world around them.

3 tips that can help reach your goals:

1. Create a vision board
– add photos and words that inspire you
– cut pictures of your dreams and goals
If you are a singer perhaps it may be a photo of a stage you would like to perform. Get specific on the space, the audience, is it a huge stage or an intimate stage.
– if you want a dream job cut out photos of the office you would like to work at, images.
I had a dream of one day giving my students and opportunity to sing in Disneyland and cut out a photo of Julie Andrews with a bunch of children in the classic Disneyland Mickey Mouse Cap. It took 10 years for it to happen.

2. Visualisation

Visualise how you want to perform or your dream job. Imagine yourself in that position. Imagine the smells, the atmosphere and play the perfect movie in your mind.

3. Create

Do something small or big everyday that leads towards your dream or vision.
Connect with the people that you feel can help you. Make the calls. Step Out of your comfort zone. Just DO!

Vision…

It’s more than a goal

It’s bigger than ourselves

It seems that there is never the right time to create your vision. When it comes to you, it will light you up your soul. It will fuel you to the core!

Tell me in the comments below what lights you up or tell me your big vision? Putting it out into the universe may help it come to fruition a little faster!

What a Vocal teacher learnt whilst singing with Martin Nievera

“Consistent sold out venues”, “Brilliant energy from start to finish”, “Incredible voice” these are just some of the feedback Martin Nievera had during his Sydney concert last Friday 8th of May, 2015.  It was certainly one to remember. I had the honour to sing as Martins’ Backing Vocalist and it’s always such an amazing experience to work with such a down to earth, talented, witty and funny person.

From time to time we come across performer who really knows how to connect with the audience. I mean REALLY CONNECT…. from the heart and from the soul…without trying.  Of course this comes from 3 decades of interacting with the audience but there is something special when it’s consistent.

So this is what I learnt while singing with Martin Nievera.

11017863_840771145978407_5376674929204686348_n

Make your fans feel special

Consistently, Martin is always giving time to his fans. He didn’t just stay in his dressing room, he remembers people’s names and acknowledges them. He spoke to people before his performance and hung outside his dressing room. Watched a few support artists and complimented them. He genuinely loves to interact with his fans, happy to sign CDs and happy to do shout out to fans via social media.

How do you engage with your fans?

11256866_840773019311553_3085438124371626572_n

Thank you Martin for the special shout out to my One Voice Students!

Be proud of your heritage

Best part of the concert! When he said that Filipinos have the ability to give to the world. We are the carers and that we should all be proud about what we do in the world. He acknowledges the people who left their home in the Philippines to make a better life for themselves in Australia.

“The world is watching”. Do “good” in the world, don’t lie and don’t be dishonest was his main message.

So simple and it’s what we teach our kids from a young age, every now and then we need reminding even as adults.

How are you being of service to the world?

11264040_840771222645066_2104016828077295670_n

Rehearse with the band and take control

Martin takes pride to rehearse with his band. If he is not happy with something he assertively fixes it. I have seen it before with his last rehearsal where he has a certain standard of people that he works with and if they don’t meet it he will request a change even if it is last minute. You want to surround yourself with people whom you can rely on. People who help you create the best show and bring out the best in you. Know your expectations.

He endearingly called his band the Meat Pie band because they consisted of young amazing Australian Musicians. Of course he mentioned that their first step after landing in Sydney was Harry’s Café Dewheels. So another witty way to interact with the Aussie Audience.

When choosing musicians find people that care about your performance. Acknowledge your band members in the show and include them in your patter.

11260330_840773725978149_1050699617749715963_n

Respect everyone you work with

Each performance Martin always is grateful and will give each of his band members a signed CD with a special message.

How do you show your appreciation towards the people you work with?

11250930_840774419311413_7891563250055152313_n

Be you

Martin is open that he has had ups and downs with his relationship- often making fun of himself, his ex-wife Pops Fernandez and his life. Never taking himself too seriously. He shares his personal life often referring to his kids and tying in their family story with the show. I think there is a special bond with the audience as he talks about the times when his kids were little and he would watch them sleep. Martin added an original heart felt song that he wrote with Mr. Louie Ocampo about his boys. (Seems that every songwriter with a child relates to this- here’s a song I wrote about Christian – Tomorrow it’ll be a better day)

Has something or someone in your life inspired you to write a song that you can include in your show?

11023438_840771162645072_1790267648666575076_n

Be surrounded by family

Every concert he always acknowledges his family in the crowd. So now we know him more personally.

Consider bringing on a talented family member to be part of your show. Martin brought on board his talented twin sister Vicky. They sang a 70s Medley of songs that reminded them of their happy times in their childhood.

Do you have a family member you can invite to be part of your show?

11202666_840772179311637_248453638921344295_n 11169811_840772145978307_3284313700354409990_n

Be encouraging to performers starting out

You can learn so much from young talents even as a seasoned performer. It can be humbling to know that we all started at the beginning once. It takes courage and persistence to make it in this industry. It’s also such a small industry and we need to look after each other. It was so wonderful to see One Voice Alumni and past students working the stage- Melanie Balagtas, Bryan Ines, Bernadette Marquez, Alwyn de la Santos and Ylonda.

How do you conduct yourself around musicians who are starting out or are seasoned?

Young or old we all just want to be validated.

11169811_840769462645242_6404353239404460985_n 1512400_840769342645254_6016150025909309430_n

Always be ready to learn new songs

Martin is always really to learn new songs. We had dinner during the rehearsals and Mr. Louie Ocampo was calling out all these new songs that are popular currently on the radio. They chatted about the new version of Dusty Springfield’s song- you don’t own me. By the way, you can check out the song I wrote with Louie Ocampo and Lionel Cole called Be Heard. You can also check out my new Be Heard EP in iTunes.

Martin is not afraid to learn new songs and the audience loves it. He even threw in a One Direction song – the story of my life after his son had dared him to sing a modern song.

Which new song have you been planning to learn? Create a new version of it and plan to sing it at your next gig.
11258528_840772405978281_2847634569075673457_n

Create a story within your performance

The whole concert revolved 3 decades of music and performing. He shared his life as a child, his family and takes the audience down memory lane with his TELESERYE  medley.

Try to incorporate the senses. Include visual footage of all the milestones in your life.

One thing he wanted to do was be part of Broadway. He sung a Broadway medley, which the audience absolutely loved.

Is there something that your audience doesn’t know about you? Where you can tie in a song to showcase that secret?

10857750_840771785978343_1567003496982575480_n

Be humble and of service

Martin is there to entertain, to make people laugh to make them cry and to make every person the in audience feel great about themselves. My favourite part of the night was the comfort he brought to Nanay Consuela who had stage 4 cancer. It brought me to tears, which I tried very hard to hold back. It was so touching and beautiful.

11260933_840773049311550_4754646417004270615_nWhat will touch your audience’s heart? Are there elements and moments of happiness, seriousness, a chance to educate, wit, light-heartedness, sexiness, love.

All of this combined just made this an incredible performance and memorable.

Love and respect your audience so much that you will never be forgotten. Time and time again they will see you at the next concert and buy your CDS and be a fan for life! All because you took the time to know them.

I would love to know 3 concepts that you can incorporate into your show? Maybe you have a concept that you would like to share that is unique to your show.

Please share, comment and like this post if you found it helpful.  Also pass it on to a friend who will benefit from it.

Free 30 Day Kindermusik Challenge

10418871_897602700274592_3366681633669719428_n (1)

Our next term start the first week of Feb 2015 and many of you have sent kind messages on how much their child is missing Kindermusik.

I’ve decided to create a free 30 day Kindermusik Challenge that will send you 30 actionable videos/emails everyday for 30 days in the month of January.

The simple actions and activities will help your child thrive as well as encourage special bonding time with you and the family.

With each activity I will explain the benefits and how it’s helping your child develop. I’ve seen the benefits it in my classes- I’ve been running them for 9 years now. These activities, if done daily and consistently can help a child communicate better, sleep better, learn better and develop physically. It starts these early years – not when Kindy starts. Each activity is researched based.

Imagine a world where every child has this opportunity and growth. Where each music and movement activity can give them the head start they deserve. It starts with each parent and caregiver.

Sign up here and share this link with your friends, mothers group, new mum and anyone that just wants a good start for their baby!
https://tinabangel.leadpages.net/free-30-day-kindermusik-challenge-/

Keep in touch and tell me who you shared it with. I’ll send you the group FB link so you can connect with other families and show/tell your progress.

Give your child something to sing about!

It’s amazing how far these reality show have come. What would we do without our social media and mobile phones!

WHO WILL BE NEXT???

Have I missed any names? Let me know….

The ONE VOICE of LAH LAHs’ TINA HARRIS

I met the beautiful and talented, Tina Harris, at our annual Kindermusik Australian/NZ Teachers Conference in Sydney 4 years ago. Fortunately,  I was invited to be guest presenter/Vocal Coach to the many uber talented Educators.

It’s so inspiring to be surrounded by women like her, who work so hard to bring music into people’s lives.

I’m so thrilled to have Tina  aka “Lah, Lah!” as our guest on the Blog.

It really goes to show that music is so powerful and a universal language.  There are so many aspects and directions that Music can take you.  That’s the beauty of it!

It’s a journey and it really can touch the soul of people no matter what age.  Let’s hear about Tina’s journey so far….

Did you ever imagine your life the way it is today? How did you get to where you are now?

Oh that’s a hard question. The dream 20 years ago is so different from the dream 5 years ago. When I was a student I was studying Opera, so everything about music was really learning about languages, movement and acting. What I didn’t realize back then was that all that training was the perfect background for what I’m doing now. Performing as Lah-Lah, I get to use all the singing, dancing and acting but in a much more kid friendly kind of way.

Mark (my hubby) and I chased the music dream to Paris. But along the way we ended up in Japan teaching English.

Lah-Lah and Buzz leaving for New York, 2014

Lah-Lah and Buzz leaving for New York, 2014

I loved working with children and when we returned to Australia to have our first daughter; a friend suggested I look into Kindermusik. I opened the first Kindermusik school which soon became 4. It was a wonderful but crazy time. At the end of every term Mark and I would do a little show. Parents would also comment and say, ‘why don’t you do a big show’, so the idea was born.

Our first season was self produced, we put on 24 shows in two weeks (crazy when I look back now). We recorded a CD and off we went. Mark Plays in Monsieur Camembert so we put together a band of friends and Lah-Lah was off and running.

Out of season one Nickelodeon signed us to make video clips and the opera house and Enmore theater booked us for our first seasons.

How do you balance motherhood and being a business-woman?

Gosh, I try to balance it and I always question myself on how it’s going, but that’s just being a Mum.

I think it’s important to take time out. Working from home is challenging because you can work all the time but I’m getting better at closing the office door and just having family time. We’ve also started a little routine where we play games after dinner at the table. Kids love this and so do I.

Harris Family

Mark, Tina and Lily and Emily

Best advice someone gave you about motherhood?

When it all gets too much, put the kettle on:)

Worst advice someone gave you about motherhood?

Oh gosh, is there such a thing? It’s all been pretty good…..

Tina & her Mum Cassie

Tina & her Mum Cassie

What are your thoughts about introducing music and movement classes to children?

Oh yes, it’s the most important thing. Music Music everywhere! There has been so much written in recent years on the benefits to learning and experiencing music. Young children get so much out of it and it’s good for them.

I am concerned that public schools in Australia don’t have enough of an emphasis on music early childhood curricular.

So, it’s so important that we expose our kids to as much music as is possible and different musical styles from all around the world.

What’s next for you?

Well the LIVE show begins touring Sydney in the April School holidays. This is a brand new show and we’re writing it at the movement.

Charice making One Voices’ dream a reality

I’m so excited to share the video Charice made for the One Voice students! In the video she talks about how it is an honour and a privilege to be an inspiration to young singers.

I hope it inspires people to keep dreaming!

Thank you to past and current One Voice students for their continued support and belief!

In 2010, my students made a YouTube Video to meet Charice! Many people shared our video and supported us including Lea Salonga! Because of this, the video went viral among Charice’s fans. I would have never thought that it would happen but it’s finally coming true after 4 yrs!!!

A special thanks to Cheers E Australia for making this happen!

Please share if you believe that dreams can come true.

Here is the original video One Voice made.  This was when Charice was in Glee hence the Sunshine Corazon costumes and glasses. The video has now over 27,000 hits.

Tell us what dream has come true for you?

THE ONE VOICE OF JENNIFER PAIGE

During my visit to the USA in 2013,  I met with Jennifer Paige. She invited us to come to her Christmas gig at Orchard Supply Hardware store in Yorba Linda, CA. Being the Voice in their recent Jingle,  Jen had numerous Christmas gigs for the company. She was also promoting her wonderful Christmas album.

Excuse the blurry photo. We had actually just arrive in LA that afternoon and headed straight to the gig hence the piece of luggage Christian was holding!

Christian, Tina & Jennifer Paige

Christian, Tina & Jennifer Paige

“I see you blowin me a kiss… it doesn’t take a scientist… to understand what’s goin on…baby….”

I bet those lyrics just rolled off your tongue…(it’s just like riding a bike but in the singing sense).

“Crush” was the song you needed up your sleeves, if you were in the Sydney Cover band scene 12 years ago!   Many singers have agreed that they found themselves quiet clever just being able to string the words together…it was a wonderful song to sing and I fondly remember it being heavily requested during my gigs.

I am so honoured to have Jennifer Paige as our special guest artist.  Jen generously shares her music industry experiences in the hope of inspiring our One Voice students and budding performers!  It’s also the day of her new project release.

  • Tell us what you have been up to since your hit song “Crush”?

After my debut release, my album went gold/platinum in 16 countries and I toured the world for two years. I came back to Los Angeles to record my 2nd album, Positively Somewhere. Again, more touring; and, the recording of my 3rd album, Best Kept Secret. My most recent release was last December with my first Christmas record, Holiday.  I’ve been fortunate enough to continue making records and to also sing on many behind the scenes projects for films like Autumn in New York, Simply Irrisistible and Smart People and lots of tv shows.  I’ve been the voice of countless advertising campaigns, most recently, Overstock.com; and I’ve written songs for other artists, including the bands York and Smashmouth. A lot has happened in the years following my first single, “Crush”. I’m always grateful for the opportunities that come my way, and every new accomplishment is a reminder to keep walking in the direction of my dreams.

  • When did you know you wanted to make singing your career and how did it come about?

I’ve known since I was a little girl – maybe 5 years old, or so. It became more serious for me in High School. I did many talent shows and was accepted into the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts. After school I went on the road with a band and eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams of becoming a recording artist. I sang for anyone who would listen. I sang in local bands and sang demos for many local songwriters, including hit-songwriter Andy Goldmark. We ended up making my first record together. It was a very natural process. No one could’ve predicted I would have my first record deal within a year of moving to L.A.  Fate, luck – who knows?

  • What is the best advice you can give a young singer who wants to make a career in music?

Sing anywhere & everywhere. Family events, church, talent shows, auditions, learn to play an instrument, join a band, begin writing poems and lyrics. If you don’t play an instrument, don’t stress – that’s why we co-write. Best advice I can give you: When your big break comes, be ready. 🙂

  • Where does your inspiration for songwriting or singing  come from?

Every day life, people. nature, a great story, movies!

  • Do you take singing lessons or any sort of training?

I sing quite a bit in songwriting sessions & recording sessions so that keeps my voice in shape. I think it’s a great idea to contunue lessons, no matter what level of ability you have; but, if I’m honest, I haven’t made the time for lessons in a very long time. I am pretty aware of my vocal strengths and weaknesses, and I always try be well prepared for recording. Even something simple like drinking hot tea with honey and warming up my voice on the drive to the studio can make all the difference.

  • What are your future plans?

I’m gearing up to release my latest with my duo, Paige & Palermo – Stay EP releases on June 4, 2013

P&P cover
  • How did you develop your new sound?

Other than a duet with Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys, and a couple of international collaborations, I’ve worked as a solo artist.  Paige & Palermo is myself and a talented artist named Coury Palermo. We co-created this new sound while writing the songs and experimenting with different styles. Our style is very much a combination of both of our solo styles – that produced a somewhat moody, singer/songwriter infused Pop.

  • What advice would you give a parent who has a child interested in making a career in Music?

Pray.  A lot.  It aint for the faint of heart.  That’s what my parents would say… 😉

  • Best advice anyone has ever given you?

THE ONE VOICE OF MR. RYAN CAYABYAB

My parents were lucky enough to Host Mr. C and his wonderful band members-Krina (Keyboardist), Juarde (Drummer), Dave (Bass guitar) & Junji (guitarist) during the RCS Australian tour in Sydney at Castle Hill,  November 13th 2009.

I found Mr. C so humble and down to earth. He is an Icon in the Philippines, a living legend who has greatly influenced and shaped Filipino music and culture.

The concert was Amazing!  The RCS (Ryan Cayabyab Singers) voices blended beautifully yet individually had their own unique sounds, style and tones that made their solo parts captivating.

Apart from their voices the simple and effective choreography was top-notch.  Their coordinated costumes looked so stylish and oozed elegant simplicity.

I finally got the courage to ask Mr. C if he could answer a few questions for my blog.  Hope you all enjoy his answers.  I certainly did.

HI there Tina. I will try to answer your questions as best as I can.

But before that, I wish to thank you and most specially your dad and Mom for taking us into your house, I worry much though because I think we made such a mess of your otherwise clean and well-kept house!!!!

Your mom cooks very well, and both your mom and dad are so much fun to talk and exchange stories with.

Here are my answers:

1. Your daughter Krina toured with you in Sydney and is part of your band.  How did you introduce her to music and at what age? And what did you do to help encourage her to pursue her music career.

Krina had seen me do my work (arranging, writing new music) at the piano since she could walk, or since she could remember. We noticed that she already had a good ear as a kid, she was in tune every time she sings and her natural tones were always ‘placed’ – no chest tones, no throaty sounds emanated from her as a kid, she had a naturally placed voice. We let her take piano lessons as soon as she turned three (same with my son) because as music educators, both Emmy (my wife) and I believe that early music education helps children grow up to become good, productive citizens – of course this does not manifest itself immediately, but as the person grows, because the discipline instilled in learning a musical skill is deeply ingrained. We have seen it in Krina; we also see it in Toma (our 18 year old son).

Discipline here doesn’t mean a certain rigidity in time and schedules, and in the military sense of discipline but more of a natural learning mechanism or method that supports the adage ‘pratice makes perfect’.

We all know what it means when we say practice makes perfect. But the end effect of this mantra is that the result makes for a satisfying feeling, a reward in itself.

We did not push Krina into a music career, it was her own decision. Let me give you an example of how we tried to discourage her early on.

When she was in grade school she wanted so much to join their year level singing competitions. We told her not to join – not because we just didn’t want her to join, but because she wouldn’t win this kind of competitions. Singing competitions in our country always focuses on the ‘birit’ or power singing – the louder and the higher the voice, the better the chance of winning. She wouldn’t win in this competition because Krina’s natural voice is not loud, and although hers was a soprano range, her voice quality was crystalline – pure and cherubic!

One day she came home from school (she was in grade two) she was crying so hard and we asked her why. She said she joined the singing competition (without our knowledge) and she didn’t win. It was such a heartbreaking moment. I think she was crying more because we told her before not to join any singing competition…

She joined again the next year. She lost again. But by the time she was in Grade 4 or 5, she finally won! Hurray! But we never knew how she did it, because we never encouraged her anyway! (We surmised that 1. Her main competitors in the past didn’t join any more; 2. She picked a better song to sing; 3. Her personality is such that she doesn’t stop until she gets what she wants…and that practice makes perfect)

Today she heads an all female jazz trio as music director, arranger and lead soprano. They do gigs in various music outlets – pubs, corporate events, and university functions. Plus, she will march next year

With a bachelor’s degree in music, major in choral conducting, summa cum laude at the University of the Philippines College of Music.

Did we influence her? Not consciously, but more like she imbibed it naturally – just by listening and observing. Just the way I did it as a child living in a house with ten lady boarders taking up music, and with a mother who was an opera singer (my dad wasn’t musical at all!), and with siblings who love to sing and play music.

2.  What advice can you give to parents who want to introduce music to their children?

From the above (answer to #1) – it should be evident that either one of the parents must love music, must indulge in it, must be involved with music making, or must be a music lover of the first degree. When young children are taught music via the Suzuki method; the parents are required to do follow through exercises at home.

But I have heard other musicians who grew up with parents who are not musical at all. Life is a mystery.

3.  Are there any reading resources or music that you would recommend to any parent, singing teacher or performer?

None that I can think of at the moment. But I think parents should research on music methods that they can be comfortable with for their children.

By the way, my two children attended a pre-school that had a very strong music program, involving various music education methods (Kodaly, Orff, etc) and very active music teachers who were very influential in shaping their musical skills. (By the way, Emmy and I never attempted to teach our children piano or voice – they had to be taught by other teachers in our music school. Eventually, our son Toma learned not only piano, but also voice, drums and guitar. He is not going to be a musician but his training in music will be a source of inspiration, or a source from where he can relate to abstract structures vis a vis every-day routines and realities)

4.  What are you listening to on your Ipod or CD player at the moment?

None. I try not to listen to as much music as possible because as a music writer, it is difficult not to be influenced by what one hears. I did listen much to music before, through my formative, educational years. A lot of classical or serious music is inside my head and when I listen to them being played I connect right away. Same with other genres of music.

5. You mentioned in your Sydney concert that your last composition was your tribute to “Vegemite” for your Australian tour-which was perfect by the way-do you have any more plans to compose more songs in the near future?

I regularly write music for recordings, commercials, institutional, film, TV and theater. The experience I had tasting vegemite inspired me to write the song. It is supposed to be a novelty song.

6. Now that you have arrived home from Sydney, What is your next project?

I have a concert with Piolo Pascual (a Filipino multi-media artist) on Nov. 28, and the ABS-CBN annual Christmas Specials on Dec. 11. There are other gigs and commissions in between. That means a lot of writing

music materials, rehearsing, rehearsing, rehearsing…until we perfect the songs.

And lucky last

7. What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?

Be the best in whatever you do, be an authority – and everything else follows. (And to be the best, one has to learn the ropes, learn everything about your career choice…plus, you must love what it is you are doing)

Again, thanks for the hospitality and give my best to Mom, Dad, Rob and Christian.
